Give us freedom
Why should we fear our streets?
I was born here
My roots are spread here
My foundation is my homeland
Why is homeland unsafe?
Why are my children scared?
Our roads are bleeding
And our hearts are broken
We stand on our feet and refuse to kneel
Why should we feel free only outside our country?
Why can’t we laugh in our homes?
Our president a tyrant
As luscious as a coconut
His regime not far behind
The elders rule the land
And have murdered it beneath the sun
While they use guns to blind our hearts
Their fingers to point and blame
The people are dying
Blood weeps freely from our soil
Our ancestors turn their head in shame
Is this the country they fought for?
